October 2024 Issue
Prematurity Awareness Month
We recognize that nurses play a critical and compassionate role in supporting families as they navigate the transition from hospital to home after the birth of a premature infant, especially during Prematurity Awareness Month and in recognition of World Prematurity Day on November 17. Nurses not only provide essential medical care but also offer emotional support and guidance. Nurses educate parents about their baby’s unique needs, ensuring they feel confident in caring for their premature infant at home. By addressing concerns, demonstrating care techniques, and offering resources, nurses help alleviate the anxieties families may face during this challenging time. Their expertise and dedication provide families with a sense of security, knowing they are not alone in their journey, and help bridge the gap between hospital and home, fostering a safe and nurturing environment for their baby’s continued growth and development.
