April 2025 Issue
Honoring Black Maternal Health Week & World Health Day
As dedicated labor and delivery nurses, you play a vital role in advocating for equitable, compassionate care for all birthing mothers. This month, we recognize two important observances that highlight the need for improved maternal health outcomes:
🌍 World Health Day (April 7) reminds us of the global commitment to the importance of access to quality care for all.
🤰🏽 Black Maternal Health Week (April 11-17) sheds light on the disparities in maternal health that disproportionately affect Black mothers and birthing people. With Black women facing significantly higher rates of pregnancy-related complications and mortality, this week is a call to action for awareness, education, and systemic change.
Together, let’s reaffirm our commitment to improving outcomes and making every birth a safe and empowering experience.
