April 2024 Issue
THANK YOU, NURSES, YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Celebrating nurses worldwide during the month of May is an important recognition of the invaluable contributions they make to healthcare and society as a whole. Nurses play a critical role in patient care, advocating for patients, providing emotional support, and often being the primary point of contact for individuals receiving medical treatment.
Nursing has evolved from ancient times, with Florence Nightingale pioneering modern nursing in the 19th century. Formal education emerged, leading to specialized roles and advanced practice. Evidence-based practice, cultural competence, and technological integration have become central. The profession continues to adapt to changing healthcare needs and advancements.
Other consciousness-raising events coming up in May include Preeclampsia Awareness Month and Maternal Sepsis Week from May 12-18.
